4 Natural Healing Agents for Kennel Cough

Kennel cough is a contagious and very common respiratory infection in dogs. It is best to support the immune system with natural remedies. I can personally attest to the

effectiveness of nontoxic alternatives when one of my dogs suffered from this infection. He recovered quickly and remarkably WITHOUT any conventional treatment needed. Antibiotics don't address the virus causing the infection and serve to wreak havoc upon your dog's microbiome. Using a harness while your dog is coughing can be helpful in addition to humidifying the air and diffusing a high quality lavender essential oil. Your dog can still contract kennel cough even if vaccinated. If your dog's symptoms do not improve it is important to seek treatment from a qualified holistic professional.

  1. Manuka Honey - Choose one with a higher than 10 UMF (unique manuka factor). Give ½ teaspoon a day per 15 pounds.

  2. Garlic - Add fresh, raw garlic every day. Use ¼ teaspoon per 15 pounds.

  3. Slippery Elm - Prepare by mixing the slippery elm with ½ cup of warm water. Allow to cool and give 1/4 teaspoon for every 10 pounds. Feed 2 hours before any other medicine given.

  4. Homeopathy - Drosera and Bryonia are the most common remedies but nosodes can be helpful as well. It is best to work with a qualified Homeopath.
